Common Questions about Therapy
Clear, thoughtful answers to help you understand how therapy works here and decide whether this approach feels like the right fit for you or your child. Many people who arrive at this page are capable and responsible, yet feel they are holding themselves together too tightly just to get through the day. These questions are here to offer greater clarity and a sense of where to begin, not pressure.
My Approach & Focus
-
This work is not about learning more coping "tips and tricks" or simply trying harder to relax. While some therapy focuses on managing symptoms, this approach addresses the underlying nervous system patterns—like bracing and self-monitoring—that keep your body and mind in overdrive. We slow things down enough to create real internal safety, allowing long-standing patterns of perfectionism and over-responsibility to ease so that functioning no longer requires constant effort.
-
This approach is a fit for women and teen girls who appear capable on the outside but feel internally scattered, tense, or quietly running on empty. Parents often reach out when their daughter is doing "fine" at school but comes home emotionally drained, reactive, or shut down. If you are looking for therapy that moves beyond surface-level insight to create lasting nervous system change, this approach may be a good fit. Learn more on my About page.

I provide specialized support for Anxiety & Overthinking, Chronic Stress & Burnout, and Perfectionism & Self-Worth. Rather than focusing solely on diagnoses, we work to understand the internal pressure and nervous system strain underneath these experiences, helping you move toward a more regulated way of living.

Yes, Christian Therapy is available for those who prefer therapy that honors both their emotional well-being and their spiritual values. This integration is always client-led and designed to meet your individual comfort level, ensuring faith remains a source of grounding rather than another standard to meet. Therapy remains clinically grounded, providing a safe, non-judgmental space to navigate spiritual questions and align your healing with your worldview.
-
You do not need to have everything figured out to begin. Uncertainty is common when you are used to managing everything on your own. The free consultation is a pressure-free space to understand what is underneath the pressure you are noticing and decide if this is the right place to start.
Who I Work With & Where
-
I specialize in individual therapy for Adult Women and Teen Girls who look like they are coping but feel stuck in survival mode. I also offer in-person Child Therapy for children ages 5+ experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges. I do not offer couples or family therapy at this time.
-
Therapy can be helpful when emotional or behavioral challenges—such as intense outbursts, withdrawal, or school-related anxiety—begin to interfere with daily life. If supportive parenting strategies no longer feel like enough to help your child regulate, developmentally appropriate, play-based support can provide a path forward.
-
Child therapy focuses on emotional regulation and communication through play-based interaction. Parent involvement is a requirement for minor clients and is integrated through consultations and shared goal-setting. This ensures progress carries into the home without adding more pressure to the child's daily life. Explore the benefits of Child Therapy.
-
To provide the most effective care, child therapy (ages 5+) is offered in-person only by appointment at my office locations in Frisco or Dallas, TX. Teen girls and adult women have the flexibility to choose between in-person therapy and/or secure virtual therapy for those physically located in Texas, Arizona, and Montana.
Understanding the Logistics of Your Care
-
Yes, I am currently in-network with major insurance carriers through my partnership with Headway, which allows you to use your benefits directly for our sessions. Please note that coverage is state-specific and my Insurance & Fees page has an updated list of my in-network insurance carriers. If you have an insurance carrier that I’m not credentialed with, I’m considered an out-of-network provider (OON).
-
No, I don’t offer a sliding scale at this time. However, I am committed to helping you find a path to care that respects both your budget and your nervous system.
I prioritize accessibility by partnering with several major insurance providers and offering Out-of-Network (OON) support through Mentaya. Mentaya simplifies the OON reimbursement process by submitting claims directly to your insurance and taking care of the paperwork so that you don’t have to, and I cover the processing fee for each claim so that this service is completely free for my clients.
For a current list of accepted insurance plans and detailed information on how to utilize your out-of-network benefits, please visit my Insurance & Fees page.
-
If I am not in-network with your insurance, you may still be able to get a significant portion of your session cost back through out-of-network benefits. I partner with Mentaya to provide out-of-network (OON) reimbursement support and make this process as easy as possible.
How it works for you:
No Paperwork: You don't have to deal with complicated forms or manual "superbills."
Automatic Filing: Mentaya automatically submits your claims to your insurance for you.
Hassle-Free Follow-up: They handle the back-and-forth with your insurance company to ensure you get reimbursed.
I cover all Mentaya processing fees so this service is completely free for you. You can use the Benefits Checker here or on my Insurance & Fees page to see your potential savings in seconds.
-
Many clients choose to pay privately (out-of-pocket) to ensure the highest level of privacy and clinical flexibility. When you use insurance, I am required to provide a mental health diagnosis that becomes part of your permanent medical record. Insurance companies also often dictate the frequency and number of sessions you can have.
Choosing private pay allows our work to be entirely client-led. We can focus on your actual needs and long-term healing at a pace that honors your nervous system, without external interference or medical necessity requirements from a third party.
-
If I am not an in-network provider with your insurance, or if you decide not to utilize your insurance benefits, my private-pay fee is $150 per individual therapy session. Payment is due at the time of service via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. For those with out-of-network benefits, I provide free access to Mentaya to help you recoup a significant portion of this cost automatically.
-
Yes. Therapy is a qualifying medical expense for both Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). You can use your HSA/FSA card just like a standard credit card to pay for your sessions. This is a great way to utilize pre-tax dollars to make your care more affordable, whether you are paying my full private-pay rate or covering an insurance co-pay.
